Iris Jaitovich Groisman

Dr. Iris Jaitovich Groisman graduated as a biochemist from Buenos Aires University in Argentina, where she pursued a short and successful career in Radiobiology at the National Atomic Energy Commission of Argentina, before undertaking graduate studies at the Department of Experimental Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine of McGill University. Her research interests were focused in the area of oncology and molecular biology, which resulted in a series of peer-review articles. Postgraduate studies brought her to the area of pharmacogenetics at the Douglas Institute of Mental Health, as a postdoctoral fellow of the Strategic Program for Transdisciplinary Research on Suicide and Suicide Prevention (Post Doctoral Training CIHR/FRSQ Program in conjunction with UQAM). Publications and presentations of the results of her work in various International conferences followed. Being interested in the area of bioethics, she started collaborating with the Research Ethics Board of the same institution, and is presently the REB acting ethicist. In addition, Iris is currently a consultant for and a scientific member of Quorum Review Inc., and participates actively in many educational activities in the area of bioethics.
